The first official steps in the history of Turton Golf Club were taken in 1908 when a group of Turton residents launched the project at a local church. Reverend James Platt MA, vicar of Turton proposed the resolution for the establishment of the club and the course was opened on 28th November by our first President Mr John Gass. The club house you see today has undergone several changes, with the latest renovations being completed in 2022. Great care was been taken to retain many of its original charming features.
The course was opened originally as a 9 hole layout and it remained largely unchanged until the 1990's when a long held dream to extend the course to its present day 18 hole design came into fruition. The creation of the course was a team effort and over the following 4 years the new holes were incorporated. The first full 18 hole competition took place on Presidents Day in 1994.
So come and see for yourself, Turton Golf Course once experienced is never forgotten.
